It still happens! :(

15 Lakhs for my sisters dead body!! - A story on Times Now!

Preeti Vikas Singhani got married to Vikas with the hope of starting a new life, but little did she know that, life had other plans for her. Vikas was a store manager in Sierra Leone and soon after her marriage the harassment for dowry started, and after 12 days Preethi's parents got a call from Vikas's family that their daughter had ended her life without giving any reasons.

You would get shocked at finding out that imposed suicides still occur in this time and age, to top this, we find out that Preethi's body has not even been sent back to her family yet, and its been more 28 days since this happened, and Vikas is asking for 15 lakhs to send the body back. Preethi's parents would have never imagined that they will have to pay and bargain for their own daughters body. This incident shows how the love for money can even dehumanize individuals and take away their sensitivity completely.

Vikas's family has been arrested here but that does ot help one bit in getting Preethi's body back to her parents. Parents who married their daughter off with great joy, only to to utterly shocked with what a twisted turn their daughters life would take.

This is a case not only about Preethi, around 7000 women are killed or kill themselves every year for dowry harassment.
There were 24183 cases pending in court for Dowry harassment in 2006.
(Source : http://www.saveindianfamily.org/blogs/renuka-fudging-statistics/ )
This number would have increased to an incredibly high number if you add the whole of 07' and half of 08'.

We say, stop calling India a developing country, India is a developed country, but I ask you, does this happen in developed countries?

Unless the attitude towards women does not change in this country India will not be fully developed, yes, India will be secure economically but not emotionally.

The people of India must realize that women are not just child bearing machines and people to run their household, they are much more than that, and they have to get that in their head weather they believe it or not!!

So, Respect women, they are the reason you are sitting on your chair and reading this entry!!

Same to same but different!

Wel, the other night i was makin chocolate sauce to eat with vanilla ice cream and as you must know, making chocolate sauce does not include more than a few ingredients - uhhh, ok I'm cutting the crap, I added glucose instead of icing sugar (powdered sugar) and . . . ok I'm gonnna cut the crap cuz I'm in no mood to write crap, the point here is that, both glucose and icing sugar looked the same to me, I never thought of tasting what I was putting in my chocolate sauce, I jus took it and put and after the whole thing was ready, I found out what the blunder I had done.

The same way in life, things that look same may not be all that similar, like twins, and also, we many a time judge things by just looking at them, we don't go deep inside and look, that maybe, just maybe, there must be something more to it than what meets the eye.

We must learn to look at thins more closely, it could be difficult at times, but sometimes you have to do it.

"Sometimes people build walls around themselves not to keep other people out, but just to see who cares enough to break them."

So, next time something is wrong, don't look at the surface and say its ok, remember, "Still waters run deep."

Tone it down!!

This post is specially dedicated to all the souls who own a nice big music system with woofers and all those vibration effects and all that. (I'm not going into the technicalities.)

Well, okay, we know you have a nice music system and your taste in music is amazing *not* but you don't need to prove it you know.

The people who I'm talking about are people who think they live in the middle of the forest or desert or on the Saturn rings or something, the put on their music *noise* so loud, that they forget they are actually livin in a city, a city where they have neighbors, the neighbors could be kids, old people, or kids who are studying to give their dreaded board exams, or good girls like me studying for their semester exams *trying to read a comic*, so all you youngistanies out there, who have a nice big music system with woofers and the likes, please, tone it down!!

There are better ways to show off of you want to, this is just plain disturbing and irritating, just imagine, you are trying so hard to impress some girl/boy/anyone they are just cursing you, noone wants free music to flow into their house, get that into your head! :D

If it still hasen gotten into your head, then try to turn of the music *noise* you are listening to and read it again, m sure you'll get it!! :P

Contradicting-Colors!!

Well since Holi - The festival of colors is coming up, I thought it would be appropriate for me to dedicate a post to, Colors!!

We do underestimate the value of color, you won't believe it, but color has a lot to do with how you feel , its something which gets to our sub-conscious mind and… lets say, sets the “mood”. :)

As I was thinking of how to put color into words, and I got this strange idea : Most of us would associate meanings to colors, but just look at how contradicting some of them could be!!

Red - It signifies love (red balloons, red hearts.. awwwww) on one hand and on the other hand it is a way to signify things like anger and danger!!

Yellow - Remember the rhyme "yellow yellow dirty fellow, sitting on a buffalo" and on the other hand the same color is used to refer to happy things !(the bright yellow sunflowers and the ever lovely yellow smiley :))

Pink - Its a girl's color but the men who dare to wear pink are they real men!!(Don't ask me where I got that from!! :P)

Green - On one hand its the color of money, prosperity (remember the greeny-greeny dollar bills) and at the same time green is also the color jealousy.

Grey - Well they say grey is a dull day's color but interestingly grey is also my fav tee's color(and I for one am not dumb!! [am I??])

Black - Its the color of Confidence but also the color which come depict a person to be really lonely and mentally imbalanced.

Blue - The color of the sea, its like polymorphism[refer JAVA dictionary for meaning], it can be calm when it wants to be and as destructing as a hurricane.

Orange – Its’ said to be a color of happiness but the same time a color which demands attention which in-turn reflects at a persons low self-esteem.

There was only one color where I din’t find a contradicting meaning attached, and the color was : *ta-ra-ra-tut-tara*

White - The color of peace, healing, comfort, truth, purity, idealism, reverence, simplicity, cleanliness, humility, precision and innocence.
Now that’s one powerful color!!
(btw, if u find some contradictions for white, other than its relation to death in the Indian culture(which I apparently din’t want to mention) then you could please tell me )

Well think about it and if you do come up with some more contradcting-colors, do let me know! :)

Wat if?!

What if life was more like tv.

If life was like Ekta Kapoor's "K Saga's"
We would get up after a long night, but make-up intact.
We would have atleast 2 spouses/gf's/bf's and no real friends at all.
There would be a wedding every month and a no-reason party every week.
Women would always wear skimpy sarees and big bindi's and men would always be in suits.
We would never have a cellphone when we needed one.
We would have enemies who we never even knew existed.
We would never laugh. i.e. We would only fake laugh.
True love would exist, for a while and then we would get married to someoone else.
There would never be happy endings.(oh. wait, "K Saga's don end rite?)
We would live for atleast 598 years.
When the phone rings, there will always be a "Kya??????" and the receiver of the phone would be dropped down.

And if its one on the si-fi shows then
We would see UFO's.
Zulus would come down from zulu land and kidnap earthlings.
Zulus would be allergic to cheese and chocolate ice-cream.
We would know a little boy like Calvin who would actually imagine the zulus before they actually come to conquer earth.

And if life was like one of the reality shows
The tears would be fake.
Our only aim n life would be not to get eliminated.
We would have a lot of fake friends.
We would have background music for all our moods.
We would cry, to not get eliminated.

And if life was like cartoons
We would never make sense.
Life would be a lot more colorful than it is now.
We would fall into trouble and fall out of it real fast.(Most cartoons last for only 5 minutes)
When we would fall into trouble, there would be super heros to come save us every time.
Life would always have "happy endings".
We could say what we want when ever we want and not fear of appearing stupid cuz everyone is that way.
Kids would love us.
We could drive, even if we weren't 18 and didn't have a license.

And if life was like a news-hour show
There would be a lot of lies.
A boy falling into a pit would be the biggest thing that happened that day.
People would be manipulated and we would show things the way other people want to see them.
The review of our whole life could be given in less than one minute.(Including adds)
There would be people watching our every move and a small mistake could turn out to be the biggest gossip of the day.

And if life was a Crime Drama show
The only colors one would wear would be black and grey.
There will be darkness even in the day.
There would be murders everyday, every hour, every minute.
We would live only on coffee.
We would never get to sleep.
All our cars and bikes would have a siren sound and not a normal horn.

Yes, life would be weird if i was like a tv show but then again, I think it would be a lot more interesting.
I would love it if i had a background score for my life and never have bad hair days.
I would love it if life were more colorful, I would love if we had parties every week and if we had no college and no worries bout grades and attendance!!

Wouldn't u??

Woman's day 08' :)

I know, as usual, I’m posting a day late but what the hell, I'm atleast posting!

Coming back, 8th March 08' - Woman’s day, what does one do on this day??
Send texts to all their "woman friends", "Happy Women’s Day" or ask em for a treat cuz its their day? or just do nothing at all, I mean common, what’s the big deal anyway??
Well, frankly speaking I didn’t do anything special about woman’s day myself, except wishing my mom, and as for doing something for myself, I didn't think I needed a day to do something special for myself(Yea.. I do give ego boosts to myself from time to time, so don't really need a special day). So, bottom line is, the only time I actually thought that woman’s day was a special event was when I remembered that I needed to post something on my blog, and as you would have guessed by now, I'm not making any sense(as usual).

Women to me are a species which are capable of anything if they put their heart to, if they want to do it, come what may, they will do it!!

The are a bundle of contradictions,
They smile and cry at the same time,
They start smiling when they are supposed to scold at you,
They work till mid-night, but still get up in time to start a new day afresh,
They laugh with you, but you know they are the only ones going to be there when you cry too,
They could be as cuddly as teddy bears, but also be "Ice Woman" to people who irritate her,
They could be this; they could be that, they could be anything they want to be.
They are the most un-perfectly-perfect people on earth.

I salute all the women I know, and to the men I would only like to say “The first woman was created from the rib of a man. She was not made from his head to top him, 1nor from his feet to be trampled on by him, but out of his side to be equal to him.”

Women are to be respected, adored and loved not to be pitied on or eve-teased.

Make a woman feel loved today, she may be your friend, your mother, your grand-mother, your teacher, your servant, your teacher, your girlfriend your sister, she could be anyone, take some time out and make her feel special cuz she is one of the reasons you are what you are today!! Do something, don't just send her a text, make her feel special, pampered one day, just cuz she’s woman, she deserves it!! :)

PS: You could do this any day, everyday, you don’t need for woman’s day to make someone feel special!?!

If

I think most of you would have read this poem before but for the benefit of those who haven't, I'd like to tel you, its such a wonderful poem and when you have the time you must read it, fully, slowly.

if

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master,
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936)
